I really hate when I forget to wear my v-neck rainbow collared shirt, my superman necklace and have my hair jersey shored geled!!!

DAY ONE ~ Las Vegas 563.5 miles

After watching a bit of the World Cup while packing (I had plenty of time Genesta) and then packing up the Grey Lady, aka my car who will hopefully treat me better than the Money Pit - this was my last car who decided a day before I would sell it to do one last "screw you" and die on the side of the road on Highway 1 in Aptos, hence the nickname - we rolled out of the City with hopefully everything I needed.

Having driven 5, this is highway 5 or the 5 for you non northern Californians, a few times before I was fully prepared for the temp gauge to spike in the high 90s, for the cars to whiz by moving at least 20 miles above the speed limit and for the shock that so many people actually lived here. Though honestly the majority of the morning was spent trying to actually find the World Cup game on the radio. When I finally gave up and settled in to enjoy my iTunes I discovered that the Apple lady lied and that the Walgreens special was not as good and therefore would not be transmitting anything on my radio except when I was completely isolated in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately this is not 1872 and like AT&T there is coverage in most areas, so no iTunes! :( But loving books on tape!

I can now say I have driven through Bakersfield - nothing there, no really nothing there, and made my way to Vegas passing my new favorite place to eat...The Mad Greek. This was a recommendation from the best Greek I know, my brother's girlfriend Ariana...and it was really like that house in my Big Fat Greek Wedding - awesomeness!!!

Las Vagas - Holy crap so much more than what I had even seen on CSI! Maybe it was the tip of the Eiffel Tower jutting up from the skyline or the mock ginormous Greek temple of Caesar's Palace, but Las Vegas was unbelievable. Alas I only had a few hours and I'll need to go back to see everything, but I was able to catch Love the Cirque du Soilel show, which was very cool. In the short walk to my hotel and waiting for the show to start gave ample time for an excellent game of people watching. I mean who could forget the man who wore a bedazzeled black shirt with angel's wings on the back. Or the man from the title - I thought the superman necklace was amazing! Or the woman who sat next to me in the show and used her drink holder as a place to hang her hooker shoes while she watched the show - silly me I was using it for my drink! I also really enjoyed listening to the four Spanish ladies who stood next to me while the volcano exploded and reminded my of three of my favorite Spanish ladies at SHCP. I also felt really bad for the man who was trying to book a ticket for a show before me. He asked about seeing a show at like 7:00 and the concierge laughed and said that the earliest show he could get him was at 9:30pm. 7:00pm is like early morning in Vegas!

Anyway off to Albuquerque tomorrow!
